This week I was given a bottle of Two Black Dogs extra virgin olive oil to try. I love the back story. Graham and Nicky live in Mangawhai in Northland, New Zealand. Having bought a property on which there was a grove of olive trees they decided to jump in gumboots and all to produce this lovely grassy green extra virgin olive oil.
Their first olives were harvested in May 2015 and their Ascolano olives were used to produce a small run of extra virgin olive oil which has been certified by Olives New Zealand as Extra Virgin Olive...
Very proud to announce that Two Black Dogs have won Silver in the Intense category - Single Varietal (Ascolano) in the Oliveti Olive Oil Awards 2015. This is our first competition and first harvest - we are so excited to have recieved this.
It has been a busy few weeks keeping an eye on our growing team of lambs, sheep, and other grove projects that are underway.
We have been getting some great feedback from those of you that have tried the 2015 oil, and we are enjoying trying new recipes using our oil. If you have a favourite recipe of idea with our oil - please share :)
The two black dogs have also been busy munching on bones and bringing as many sticks as possible into their kennel while at all times keeping an eye out for potential food! Im pretty sure they are eagerly waiting for summer (like all of us)
Better go - the snacks plate is being eyed up by the pooches...
Well its been an action packed few weeks! our first lambs arrived - Twins even! then there were more, and more, and more.... i cant believe how quickly they grow.
They have been exploring the olive grove, lambs running around everywhere and mums protectively watching over them.
There are now 22 lambs... cuteness everywhere you look.
One of our sheep will now come up to me for a scratch, hes curious unlike the others who dont want to be distracted from chomping through the green grass - a bit of competition for the two black dogs thats for sure!
